Class: Open Studio Mentoring Time

Cost: $7 per hour or $50.00 (10 one hour sessions purchased at once, $20 savings)

Every Tuesday night in the month of March we will be holding an open studio for people who want a place to work on their art, get help and assistance on what they’re working on, and be motivated and inspired while you enjoy spending time with other artists. Open to artists of any ability.

 

 

Class: Advanced Watercolor
Date: Wednesday March 4, 11, 18, 25
Time: 10-1pm

The advanced watercolor class is organized for those who have had previous instruction in watercolor, and at least a six months of watercolor painting experience. In this course we will focus on composition, design, value, color, and style. During the four week class we will discuss art history, materials, and techniques. Each week will include personal critiques of your work, painting demonstrations, and information on resources you can use outside the class to improve your work.

This class is a beginning watercolor class for those who have never painted in watercolor, or for those who have some experience, and want to review the basics. The course will cover materials and techniques, as well as the basics of value, color, and composition.

 

 

Class: Perspective
Day: Thursday March 5, 12, 19, 26

Location: Anacortes Senior Center

In March, Greg Dugan will be teaching a class on the basics of drawing in perspective. This class is for both beginners and those who have drawn before but want a better understanding of how to put dimension into their drawings. The class will cover the basics of one and two-point perspective. We will discuss eye level line, vanishing points, and how to use them in the creation of your drawings.

 

Class: Mixed Media
Day: Friday March 6, 13, 20, 27
Time: 10-12pm

In this 4 week class we will learn how to effectively combine watercolor with pencil or pen. We will discuss what materials work best for combining these wonderful mediums, the order of operations to successfully use these materials together, and how to avoid the problems that can arise when mixing different media.

Day: Saturday March 7, 14, 21, 28
Time: 9:30-11:00am

The class will cover materials, techniques, and different approaches to creating a drawing from start to finish. The class is open to all skill levels, especially beginners.
Week 1: Materials, Contour drawing, How to create and use a grid when starting a drawing.
Week 2: Basic Shapes and Construction: Learning where to start when drawing a picture.
Week 3: Composition: Where to place objects in a picture to create the most visual appeal.
Week 4: Values: How to create value, contrast, and a center of interest in a drawing.
